About Us
Words That Strengthen the Heart
At Living & Powerful we create beautifully illustrated resources designed to bring truth and encouragement into everyday life. Our vision is to help individuals and families grow stronger, calmer and full of joy. By keeping meaningful words visible and accessible each day, we hope to inspire deeper connection, reflection and unity within homes and communities.

Our Story
BEGINNING
Back in 2018, we were becoming increasingly aware of the pressures beginning to face our two children, then aged four and six. As parents, we wanted to give them something that would strengthen and guide them as they grew. We knew that truth and real relationship would help them grow strong in the face of the challenges present in the communities we live in. Daily resources that keep these truths visible became an essential part of that — helping them stay rooted in what is good, growing in strength and unity with those around them.
SEARCH
We searched everywhere for something that could help. We wanted resources that would engage them at any point in the day. When we couldn’t find anything that really worked, we began writing verses on windows, post-it notes, clocks and small pieces of card and paper around the house. At the same time, we began to feel a growing sense that we should use our creative skills in a new way.
OBEDIENCE
In January 2019, we set aside two weeks to seek direction. We spent that time reflecting, praying and asking how our creative skills might be used for something more meaningful. During those weeks the idea for illustrated verse cards became clear. With a deep sense that this was the path ahead, we cleared our schedules for the year, turned down paid work and devoted our time to bringing the project to life.
CHALLENGE
As we took on the challenge and began illustrating verses one by one, our children were completely captivated by the beautiful images. Suddenly there was engagement, discussion, and stories coming back from the kids. This was it — the tool we had been searching for. So we set to work: designing, researching, counting costs, planning, emailing and raising support. We spent a month running a Kickstarter campaign — all-nighters, coffee, tea, debates and lots of prayer. We poured our lives into creating the Living & Powerful verse cards.
SUPPORT
With the support of 336 incredible and generous backers, our Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded. Because of their belief in the project, we were able to bring Living & Powerful to life. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported us on that journey and are excited to release the Living & Powerful illustrated verse cards into the world.
